The Riesling Hotel
Destination Hotel
A Luxury hotel is being added in Asheville, North Carolina by a developer of a chain of hotels. It is to be a welcoming environment with public areas, restaurants, a bar, day spa, fitness center, retail shops, large comfortable guest suites and guest accommodations. The facility will cater to the year-round vacationing clientele and families. A retail shop area is to be provided with a mall space including a wine shop, winery, café coffee shop, and a commercial kitchen for all guests. In addition, an employee lounge is to be provided with a beverage center and conference room. The full-service dining will provide an exterior dining patio overlooking the pool. The bar located in the restaurant will also have a lounge with seating and tables. The overall design is to provide a comfortable, stress-free environment for all guests and employees to enjoy their stay overlooking the views of the Appalachian Mountains and Beaver Lake in the distance.
Design Concept
North Carolina has many wine vineyards throughout the state, especially in and around Asheville, North Carolina. The concept of this design is a wine vineyard and everything that relates to it. For example, wine barrels, wine bottles, wine colors, grapes, vineyards, and shapes influenced by wine accessories. Materials like glass and cork will be used to showcase the concept. Throughout the hotel, the materials and finishes will represent the overall concept and bring a comforting atmosphere.
This project was completed by two other design students and me. My Spaces for the project were the hotel lobby and the adjacent retail mall area.
The retail space will be a space where you can visit all of the stores one after the other. The flow between public spaces and retail spaces will be seamless with a simple circulation plan. The design concept will be shown through archways and vineyard-inspired colors. Plants will be incorporated throughout the lobby to represent a wine vineyard.
